140 grn. Berger
39.5 grns. RL-17
OAL was measured from ogive to base at 2.2695

Outside to Outside measured .57 so Center to Center was about .31

Savage 12 LRP 260 w/ Choate Tactical Stock

I dicided that I wanted to a stock with a vertical grip and for the price I went with the Choate Tactical. This is a solid built stock and it has a good feel to it. I will say this, it's pretty heavy compared to the HS Precision that I took off.

Load Development Savage 12 260 LRP

Here are a few more pictures of my rifles and my shot grouping.

Load Developement Savage 12 260 LRP

Well I finally got to get started with my load development for my Savage 12 260 LRP. I will put this disclaimer in before I get started, I am not a professional marksman by any means. I will say that so far I am very impressed with my PST 6x24-50 FFP mil/mil. Vortex has really put a lot of thought into this scope, I installed my zero stop shims this week and it was so easy a caveman could have done it. After twisting the turrets all the way up and back down several times, it still held zero. My shots were off of a bi pod w/ no support.
My best load was:
C.O.A.L. 2.900
43 grns. H4350
Rem. No. 9 1/2 Magnum Primers
140 grn. Berger Bullets
Lake City Army Match 308 brass necked down
5-shot group outside measurement was .8095 or center to center .5455
I loaded some different loads with RL-17 w/ the 140 Berger but they did not group as well. I also loaded some 120 Nosler Bal. Tip w/ H4831, still needs some work. I will post more info on the 120's when I get it closer.

Vortex PST 6x24-50 FFP MRAD

Thanks Doug at Camera Land for such GREAT customer service. Here is my new Vortex PST 6x24-50 FFP MRAD mounted on my Savage 12 LRP 260. I will be taking it out this weekend to break in the rifle and to see how well this new scope performs. Just a quick over view of my initial thoughts on my New PST is this scope out of the box has a very solid feel to it, the turrets feel very positive and crisp kinda of like breaking a glass stick, I don't think there will be any problem with accidentally turning them. The glass through my eyes is nice and clear with very crisp images it even looked good looking through it in the dark at distant lights. The off position between each power setting on the illuminated reticule is a nice feature. I will be able to give a better review of the scope after I am able to get out to the range. If your looking for a good scope with tons of extra features for under $1,000.00, I don't think you can go wrong with these new PST's. As far as durabilty goes, only time will tell. I will be using this rifle for hunting varmints, coyotes, mule deer, elk and I want to learn how to shoot long range, at least out to 1000 yrds.

More Pictures of my Savage 12 LRP 260

Here are a few more pictures of my Savage 12 LRP 260.

This is the new Savage 12 LRP 260. I,m very impressed with the thought that Savage put into this rifle. It looks like I will be able to load my 140 grn. Bergers to 2.985 and still fit into the mag. The target action is very solid build and the target Accu trigger breaks very nicely.
It has a 26" heavy fluted barrel w/ a recessed target crown.
